Full, clear bottle 1,359 g. Rioja producer Baron de Ley’s adventure in Cigales. A new wine made in the traditional dry rosado style from hand-harvested, estate-grown fruit, sourced from mostly 50-year-old vines on pebbly soils at around 800 m above sea level. A blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Verdejo, it is vinified in stainless-steel tanks with one month of ageing on lees.
“Pale rose-petal colour. Low temperature fermentation aromas but an impressive impact of fruit on the palate with light tomato fruit flavours. I’d happily drink this with a meal involving many different flavours and textures. This has real character and finishes dry with some creditable persistence. I may even be underestimating its ageing potential.”
