2016 Casa Lapostolle, Collection ‘Vigno’ Carignan, Cauquenes
£35.00
“One of the most aromatic examples, the 2016 Vigno from Lapostolle was produced with grapes from the Empedrado zone of Maule that is cooler. The wine has less alcohol (13.5%), and at the same time, the acidity is lower and feels more integrated. There is a sense that part of the wine could have gone through carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration, as it has that brightness of fruit on the nose and a soft, sleek palate with round tannins; it’s elegant, harmonious and very tasty. It matured in well-seasoned French oak barrels for 15 months. This has a different profile than the rest of the Vigno bottlings—subtler, more ethereal and more elegant. A stunning Cariñena.”
