“OK, yum. The fruit is dark, scrunched up, like fistfuls of elderberries and sloe berries and black berries, underlined and outlined in kohl and coal and blue-black ink and winter bark. It’s fresh, smoky, dark and has a where-does-it-end feel to the tannins – like tasting the winter night sky where there are no city lights. Just, maybe, the odd wood stove tracing smoke across the bruised wrinkle of drying plums. GV”
